Internet working but LAN doesn't - no file and printer sharing etc
I also have the only one with a printer. My kids share my internet connection and printer via a LAN (100Mb/s switch). Does anyone know of some way in which I can allow them to write to the CD R/RW on my machine. Neither Nero 5.5 nor PrimoCD seem to support network writing in such a manner. Yes and no.

Problem with Internet Connection Sharing
Whole that mambo-jambo thing about security problems with LPD in the past seems absurd as even my home printer servers and stations are behind two layers of firewalls deep behind in the LAN zone. Of course you do, why wouldn't you? Your printer is 5 feet away and you know all about it's capabilities.

This should be done before installing any internet sharing software, or firewall software. All you need is a common workgroup name on each computer, and each computer will have its own name. Install netbeui protocol, then file/printer sharing. Establish if each computer can locate the other via LAN.
